This is an opening screenshot to introduce the name of the film. You can tell this is the name of the film as they used big bold font which is different from the other slates. The font colour (white) may have been chosen because it gives off a plain and urban atmosphere which may symbolize some of the areas and characteristics of the characters. The background of the shot tells the viewer that the setting of the film is going to be set in a poor location and a city gone corrupt.
This shot introduces the main star actor of the film, "Stephen Graham" , you can tell this as the name has its own slate which represents more importance. The party in the background suggests the role of the character is going to be wild and free.
This screenshot resembles underage sex and raving which is associated with drugs , this is wild shameless behavior. The sex element to the photo indicates there will be sexual relationships later on in the film. The raving side shows that the characters may have a live fast, die young mentality. The photo as a whole gives the viewer an insight on how some of the youths in the film will be acting and how they will be portrayed.
This is footage of Margaret Thatchers wedding , I think this was included in the title sequence because it was a big occasion for England and shows a sense of pride to be British. But also the numerous amount of union jacks reinforces the fact that political views and British government will be introduced later in the film. Also they are celebrating the occasion which indicates civilization coming together as a unit and symbolizes unity being a main element to the film.
This is footage of the 1980s riots and is showing a lady getting arrested , this shot suggests crime and violence will also be a main feature to the film. The timescale of the footage also tells the viewer what era the film will be taking place in.
This shot shows gangs coming together and fighting for what they believe in as they have determined facial expressions and this indicates gangs will be running England as they are freely parading down the street. Also all the members are skinheads so this tells us what gang will be present and what kind of characters to expect as well as certifying what era the film be set in.
This picture is of a gang member being violent to a police officer, this shows that the city has gone corrupt and morals have gone, and gangs and civilization has gone out of control because of the protests. So opinions are being shown through violence. The picture also foreshadows that law and law breaking will be major topics in the film and that the gang members are high in authority.
This is a screenshot that symbolizes racism and shows that racism will be a major topic in the film as the foreigner has been specifically targeted with a smashed window. This is also shown through numerous union jacks being shown off throughout the sequence by skinheads, so the crime most probably was committed by a racist english citizen.
The posture of the skinhead gang members in this shot symbolizes strength and confidence as they are standing tall and strong. It also indicates they are proud to be English and represent and fight for their country as they are wrapped around the flag together so it also symbolizes unity. The whiteness and clearness of the background also gives a sense of freedom to the skinheads.
This screenshot is important as it represents the media , and media is crucial to the film as most of the characters views and opinions have been influenced through the media, which has controlled they're beliefs which has resulted into racism and violence, which seems to be the major topics in the film itself. So by this screenshot being presented , I predict media to play a huge part in the film.
